Renowned Afrobeat artist David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has opened up about his performance at the inauguration ceremony of Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, shedding light on his reasons for being part of the event.
Following the release of a video showing Davido’s performance in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State, after the swearing-in of Governor Alex Otti and Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu, there were speculations among Nigerians regarding the expenditure involved in bringing the musician to the occasion.
In response to the criticism, Davido took to Twitter to clarify that he did not receive any payment for his performance. He further explained that he has known Governor Alex Otti for a significant period of time and expressed his belief that Otti would serve the people of Abia State well.
Davido’s tweet read, “Not a dime. I’ve known Excellency (Alex Otti) all my life, and I’m sure he will do well for the people of Abia State.”
This statement from Davido aimed to address the concerns raised about his performance and assure the public that his involvement was not motivated by financial gain but rather his personal relationship with Governor Alex Otti.
