Mirror is another hit song from the American rapper, Lil Wayne featuring Bruno Mars.
American rapper Lil Wayne’s single “Mirror” features American singer-songwriter Bruno Mars. On September 13, 2011, Young Money, Cash Money, and Universal Republic Records released the sixth and final single from Tha Carter IV (2011), the second bonus track on the deluxe version, to Urban contemporary radio stations. “Mirror” was written by Wayne, Mars, Ramon Owen, and Phillip Lawrence. Additionally, Owen oversaw production for the Smeezingtons and REO of the Soundkillers.
A few days before the album’s official release in the US, the song appeared online. Three years before it was released, the song was created. Mike Caren assisted Owen in getting the track to many rappers, who all rejected it. However, after hearing the song, Lil Wayne was a fan and his verses were added to the previously present hook vocals by Bruno Mars.
Positive reviews of “Mirror” from music critics praised it for Wayne’s reflective lines and Mars’ slick, epic hook. The hip-hop and rap ballad has been compared lyrically to Wayne’s track “How to Love” (2011) from the same album and in its composition to “Lighters” (2011) by Bad Meets Evil featuring Mars. The song’s lyrics discuss Wayne’s childhood, mental state, previous decisions, and personal life in addition to the downsides of life.
“Mirror” peaked in the top 15 in Denmark, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Belgium. It debuted at number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100. (Flanders). The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has certified it as four times platinum, and the Australian Recording Industry Association has certified it as double platinum (ARIA).
