Pour it up is a song by the famous rapper, Rihanna.
The Barbadian artist Rihanna’s seventh studio album, Unapologetic, contains the song “Pour It Up” (2012). On January 8, 2013, it was released as the album’s third single overall and second single in the US to urban radio stations. Later, it was distributed to national contemporary hit radio stations.
Rock City, Michael Williams, and JBo all contributed to the writing and production of “Pour It Up,” which was also co-written by Rock City. It has a minimal hip hop beat and combines R&B, trap, and dance music. Rihanna boasts about her money in a song that doubles as a declaration of freedom and a strip club anthem.
Critics’ reactions to “Pour It Up” were split; some thought it was a standout on Unapologetic, while others thought it was out of place. “Pour It Up” debuted as a single in the US at position 90 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, where it eventually peaked at position 19. The song peaked at number six on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and became Rihanna’s second number one single overall.
The Diamonds World Tour and the Anti World Tour, Rihanna’s fifth and sixth headline tours, respectively, featured the song. Young Jeezy, T.I., Rick Ross, and Juicy J all contributed additional rap verses to the song’s official remix, which was made public on March 20, 2013. Nicole Williams taught Rihanna how to pole dance before the music video was filmed.
