Seun Kuti dismissed the idea that his wife complies out of fear, stating that it is actually him who is afraid of his wife, highlighting the mutual respect they share. He attributed the spread of such rumors to jealousy and the inability of some people to comprehend a healthy and communicative relationship between husband and wife.
Addressing the specific allegation of domestic abuse, Seun Kuti strongly denied ever laying a hand on his wife. He cited his relationship with his daughter as an example, proudly stating that he has never spanked her in her nine and a half years of life
