As President Muhammadu Buhari concludes his term in office, he has chosen to bestow national awards upon several individuals, including renowned entertainer Davido and filmmaker Kunle Afolayan.
Davido, a prominent musician both in Nigeria and beyond, has been recognized with the Order of the Niger (OON) award. With a wide reach and a significant following on social media, he has made a mark on the music industry.

Kunle Afolayan, a highly acclaimed filmmaker in Nollywood, has also received the prestigious OON award. He is known for his successful movies, including “Figurine,” “October 1,” and the recent film “Anikulapo.”
Davido expressed his joy and gratitude for the award by sharing a picture of the list of awardees on his Instagram story.
The talented singer now joins the ranks of fellow Afrobeats stars Teni and Burna Boy, as well as Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde, who have all been honored with national awards by President Buhari.
It is important to note that the recent election, which resulted in Buhari’s departure and the subsequent handover of power to Bola Tinubu, has faced criticism due to allegations of irregularities and public disapproval, leading to ongoing litigation.
