
On Sunday, the Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs announced the list of recipients for the 2023 national honours in Nigeria, which included prominent individuals from various fields. Among the honorees were notable entertainers.
Famous singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, and renowned filmmaker Kunle Afolayan were both awarded the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) title for their contributions to the entertainment industry.
Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles and Napoli Striker who emerged as the top scorer in the Serie A, received the Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) accolade.
Benue-born socialite Terry Waya was conferred with the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) recognition.
The recipients are scheduled to officially receive their medals and certificates on June 1, 2023.
It is worth noting that in the previous year, President Muhammadu Buhari also honored entertainers such as 2Baba, Burna Boy, and Teni with national honours.
