Renowned music producer, record label boss, and singer, Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has responded to a statement made by Davido regarding their first encounter.
During an interview with YouTuber Tayo Aina, Davido shared his early music career experiences, industry growth, and his initial meeting with Don Jazzy, whom he considers his mentor.
Davido expressed his awe at meeting Don Jazzy for the first time, comparing the experience to looking at Jesus. He further mentioned that it took courage to be in the presence of Don Jazzy during their initial meeting.
In response, Don Jazzy took to Instagram to praise Davido for his accomplishments. He acknowledged Davido’s strong work ethic, despite his immense success and wealth, and expressed how it serves as a constant motivation for him, even as his mentor.
Don Jazzy’s Instagram post read, “And that’s how life is, @davido. Now, when I look at everything you have achieved, I am incredibly proud of you. Your work ethic continues to inspire me, regardless of your success and wealth. I’m grateful that I haven’t let you down as a mentor. We thank God. More blessings, bro.”
Davido responded to Don Jazzy’s post with the affectionate term “Baba mi,” which translates to “my father” in Yoruba, a Nigerian language.
