Prince Osito join forces with Cupastonce on his latest record titled “My Guys”
Prince Osito (A.K.A. Osita Jonah Ikegwuonu) was born and raised in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Osito hit the road to Europe in 1998 -this long, tough exodus marked deeply his music and his identity.
He settled in Barcelona, Spain, where he started performing on the reggae scene along with sound-systems and became the leading voice of the reggae band Urban Roots. Prince Osito defines his style as African, fresh and versatile. He blends afro-beat, dancehall, hip-hop, and drum & bass influences into his personal version of reggae.
He draws his musical inspiration from African artists (Fela Kuti, Majek Fashek, Lucky Dube) and Jamaican singers (Luciano, Culture, Sanchez, Beres Hammond, Bushman). Prince Osito released his debut album “Diobu Boy” in 2007, including a set of collabos (Shinehead, Aqeel, Lyricsson), stepping from raggamuffin chanting tracks to new roots songs.
His second album “Play Me!” came out in 2012. It combines genres candidly: afro-beat, calypso, dancehall, drum & bass, hardcore hip hop – still maintaining the reggae vibes throughout. Gentleman, Daddy Rings, Eedris Abdulkareem, Junior Reid and Macaco join Prince Osito on the album.
