Nollywood actress Zainab Balogun has revealed her long-standing battle with endometriosis, a medical condition characterized by the growth of uterine lining cells outside the womb. In a recent conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Balogun discussed how the disorder affected her marriage, having endured its impact for approximately two decades.
Balogun expressed gratitude for the support she received from her husband, Dikko Nwachukwu, throughout her struggle with endometriosis. Recognizing the magnitude of the challenge, she emphasized the importance of a collective approach, relying on therapists, comforting companions, and sources of laughter. She acknowledged that facing such a significant ordeal alone, without her husband’s support, would have been extremely difficult, particularly considering the mental and emotional aspects.
When asked about her decision not to share photos from her 2018 wedding, Balogun explained that she preferred to maintain her personal life as private and separate from her public persona. She mentioned that aside from her makeup artist, who was granted permission to share a beauty image, she did not feel inclined to disclose images from her wedding. Balogun firmly believes that her personal life is not meant for public consumption since it falls outside the realm of her professional work.
