Career
Duncan He began his musical career as a child, playing drums in church and directing the choir. His growing interest in music eventually led him to the institution where he studied audio engineering. During his youth service, he worked for Benson and Hedges as a sound instructor.
He also worked at Dolphin Studios while studying IT at Lagos’s Muson Centre. Wene Mighty felt confident in his vocal ability at this time, but his primary attention was on music creation.
In 2006, he returned to Port Harcourt, where he provided his talents to record labels D Large Records and 360 Records before forming AireMighty Records with famous jeweller Chris Aire.
In 2007, his father, Mr. Okechukwu, transitioned into the afterlife. The next year, Wene Mighty released his debut studio album, Koliwater, which helped establish him as a domestic hitmaker. The album includes 22 tracks, including “Ijeoma,” “Scatter My Dada,”
“Dance For Me,” and “Ako Na Uche.” Wene Mighty began working on Ahamefuna (Legacy) in the second quarter of 2010, and it was released in Nigerian record stores in the second quarter of that year. This CD was produced exclusively by Wene Mighty without the assistance of any other musicians.
It was preceded by “I Don’t Give A Shot,” the lead single. Wene Mighty also received the most nominations for the 2011 NEA Awards, with three, and won the award for “Indigenous Artist of the Year.”
The release of Footprints occurred in September 2012. On this album, Timaya, Shaggy, Otuu Sax, Sandaz Black, and Wande Coal collaborate.
At the fourth annual Odudu Music Awards, Wene Mighty was honored alongside South African musicians M-Trill, Timaya, Becky Enyioma, and Sodi Cookey.
Wene Mighty issued his fourth studio album, Grace & Talent, in 2014 on his own label, Young Wealth Records. Phyno, King Stunna, Tick Lips, J Flex, and others contributed to the record.
Private Life
On July 25, 2015, Duncan Mighty wed his fiancee Vivien; the wedding was by invitation only and featured a performance by gospel artist Sammie Okposo.
