Jeanette Aw Ee-Ping (born June 28, 1979) is a Singaporean actress, filmmaker, businesswoman, and author better known by her stage name, Ou Xuan.
Her acting career began in 2001, when she appeared on the variety show Road to Glamour. Since then, she has starred in a multitude of dramas, films, and variety shows. She got the Star Award for Most Popular Regional Artist in 2014. (Cambodia).
In addition to being a great actress, Jeanette Aw is also a successful director. In 2017, she made her debut as a filmmaker with the film The Final Entrance, which was presented at the Cannes Film Festival.
Picturesque Films was formed by Jeanette Aw in 2017 and has produced multiple award-winning short films and documentaries.
Childhood and Education
Jeanette Aw Ee-Ping was born in Singapore on June 28, 1979, of Chinese Hokkien descent from Quanzhou, Southern Fujian. She has a brother and a sister as older siblings. Jeanette Aw, who was raised in an English-speaking household, utilized their native dialect infrequently.
She was fortunate and blessed because her parents provided for all of her needs. She was an introvert with a freewheeling attitude who enjoyed reading, writing, and drawing as a child.
Jeanette Aw was an exemplary student and school prefect at Raffles Girls’ Primary School, Crescent Girls’ School, the National Junior College, and the National University of Singapore.
English literature and English were her strongest O-Level subjects, while she earned an A in painting. Jeanette Aw engaged in gymnastics in elementary school, dance in middle school, and swimming in junior college.
At age 13, Jeanette Aw began ballet training and continued to dance nearly every day until she received her first acting contract. She also trained for a junior college girl group and participated in her high school concert band as a saxophonist. Aw was the president of the NUS Dance Ensemble while attending college.

Career
Jeanette Aw and her friends auditioned for theater groups during her senior year of college as they prepared for her graduation performance (before receiving an offer for the honors degree program).
An acquaintance told her that a company was seeking performers, but she didn’t find out that it was a television station until after she submitted her application.
In 2000, Jeanette Aw competed in and won Road to Glamour, a talent hunt hosted in Singapore and Malaysia by the now-defunct television network SPH MediaWorks.
For her performance in a Taiwanese television drama, she was nominated for “Best Newcomer” and “Best Performance.” She left SPH MediaWorks at the beginning of 2002 to complete her education, then joined Hype Records before signing with Mediacorp in May 2002.
Jeanette Aw won the 2002 Star Award for Best Newcomer for her performance as Fan Keke in Beautiful Connection, the highest-rated Singapore drama of 2002. She also appeared in Kiss of a Toast II, a Taiwanese idol film.
In 2003, Jeanette Aw starred in “True Heroes” before portraying the young woman with a low IQ in “Holland V.” It was the most-watched drama in Singapore that year, and her portrayal of the role made her famous.
Jeanette Aw was nominated for Best Actress at the 2003 Star Awards but lost to co-star Chen Liping. She earned her first award for “Top Ten Most Popular Female Artists.” After the tremendous success of Holland V, she was considered a potential Ah Jie (big sister) replacement.
