He attended Baptist High School in Jos, where his mother bought him rudimentary music notation and a 7-key little piano, launching him into the world of music.
Jude has two brothers, Jesse Jagz and Jason Abaga, who are also active in the Nigerian and African music scenes. Jude listened to Lauryn Hill, Bob Marley, Sarah MacLachlan, Pablo Neruda, Jay-Z, and DMX during his adolescence.
Career
Jude’s excursion into the hip hop realm began in 1998 with the sampling of DMX and Lauryn Hill’s musical compositions.
After graduating from Calvin College in Michigan, he pursued a career in business and economics while also writing poetry.
There, he frequently performed at the school’s main hip-hop concerts and shows. His outstanding rap flows and attitude earned him third place at the 2003 “HipHopera” concert at Calvin College, which was the school’s first “hip hop show” to date.
M.I. also made some amateurish attempts at comedy, but he decided to stick to music because he felt humiliated when no one laughed except for him. career.
Jude launched his musical career upon his 2003 return to Nigeria. Finding his niche in an industry dominated by Modenine, Ruggedman, and Eedris Abdulkareem, he and his comrade Djinee rapidly began producing mixtapes.
This resulted in the critically acclaimed tune “Safe” (in which lyrics he spoofs popular Nigerian songs), which had extensive play on African radio and music video platforms like MTV Vibe.
The song also garnered him accolades from the Nigerian Music Video Awards, City People, and N.E.A.
