Career
In 2009, Neymar made his professional debut for Santos FC. As the team’s leading scorer for the next four years, he led them to a Libertadores Cup victory. Though he only played 102 games for the club, he managed 54 goals.
At the age of 14, he was offered a spot with Real Madrid, but he stayed with Santos FC instead because they paid him more.
After being left off Brazil’s World Cup roster by manager Dunga in 2010, Neymar made his debut for the national team in a friendly later that year. In a disappointing Copa America, he scored twice for Brazil.
Even while he was still with “Santos FC,” Neymar was being courted by some of the best clubs in the world. After a bidding war between Real Madrid and Barcelona, he ultimately signed with the latter in 2013 for 86.2 million Euros (about $96.5 million). Neymar led Brazil to victory against Spain in the final of the “Confederations Cup,” in which he scored four goals.
In 2013, Neymar was brought on by “Barcelona” for the next season. In his first season with the club, he shocked everyone by scoring in big games, including the “El Clasico” versus “Real Madrid.”
The following year, with his help, “Barcelona” won the Champions League after he scored 39 goals for the team in all competitions. To say that Neymar was Brazil’s best player at the 2014 “FIFA World Cup” would be an understatement.
The squad’s goal for the competition was to win their sixth “World Cup.” After starting the season strong with four goals, he was injured in the quarterfinals against Columbia.
This meant he missed the team’s semi-final match against Germany. Brazil’s elimination from the World Cup in the semi-finals was a humbling loss.
Neymar was a key player for his side in the 2016-17 season, especially in the UEFA Champions League. On April 2, 2017, he also notched his 100th goal for “Barcelona.”
His team also triumphed in the Copa Del Rey championship game that year. For the upcoming “Summer Olympics” in Rio de Janeiro, he has also been named captain of the Brazilian national team.
In the finals versus Germany, he scored the game-winning goal, giving his country its first ever “Olympic” gold in men’s football.
In his first game for PSG, which took place against Guingamp in the 2017-18 season, Neymar scored. He played through an injury to his right foot to finish the season with 28 goals in 30 games.
Private Life
The media has reported that Neymar’s new girlfriend is the model and actress Bruna Marquezine. They’ve been dating for some time, and their relationship has been completely conflict-free in the press.
Nothing is known about Neymar’s private life. However, in 2011, his ex-girlfriend Carolina Dantas gave birth to a son named Davi Lucca. Neymar is currently and has no wife.
Neymar Net Worth
Under the terms of the contract extension that Neymar signed in Paris in May of last year, his annual salary is about 71 million euros, and it will go up by two million euros starting in 2021.
He was also eligible for a number of bonus payments based on his performance. If he keeps this up for another year, his weekly earnings will total about 80 million Euros.
Most of it comes from his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, where he earns more than Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe combined.
High-dollar sponsorship deals are an additional source of income for him. Neymar has a net worth of US$200 million, making him one of the highest-paid footballers in the world.
