Career
Rema posted a viral freestyle to D’Prince “Gucci Gang” on Instagram in 2018. The message got the attention of D’Prince, who flew the young artist to Lagos to offer him a record deal.
In 2019, Rema secured a record deal with D’Prince Jonzing World, a Mavin Records subsidiary controlled by hit producer Don Jazzy. In 2019, he released his debut self-titled EP “Rema,” which climbed to number one on Apple Music Nigeria.
On May 21, 2019, Jonzing World and Mavin’s released the music video for “Dumebi” from his self-titled EP, which features a cameo appearance by Diana Eneje. Ademola Falomo directed the video, which currently has 50 million views on YouTube.

Rave & Roses
After signing a record deal with Jonzing World, Rema released his self-titled debut EP in 2019.
On March 25, 2022, he released his debut album, Rave & Roses. The sixteen-track album has contributions from 6lack, Chris Brown, AJ Tracey, and Yseult. Following its first week of release, ten songs from the album charted on the Billboard US Afrobeats Chart.
His single “Calm Down,” which features a sample from “So Fine” by another Nigerian musician, Crayon, appears to be climbing the charts five months after its initial release.

Prior to his rise to popularity, Rema had lost both of his parents.
Rema returned from Ghana at age 17 and purchased a 2010 Lexus RX 350 for his mother. Rema disclosed that he earned a living as a beach worker in Ghana.
Rema criticized the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for their response to the death of his father, Justice Ikubor. The musician announced this on Monday, September 28, 2020, by posting the following tweet:
