Reno Omokri Biography
Early Life
Omokri, a Nigerian author and social media influencer, was born in 1974. He was the host of the Christian teaching TV show Transformation with Reno Omokri, which ran for one season on KTLN-TV in San Francisco and the Impact Network in Detroit.
Reno Omokri Career
Reno Omokri is the Vice President of the American political consultancy business, Joe Trippi and Associates. As the Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan, he was recognized for his use of social media to conduct surveys and bring attention to the Nigerian government’s projects.
In 2011, he urged Nigerians residing abroad to support Jonathan in the 2011 elections. Omokri was a signatory to a letter by the G57 group that demanded Yar’adua’s resignation.
Between 2015 and 2016, Omokri hosted the Christian teaching program Transformations With Reno Omokri, which aired on Comcast, DISH Network, and Roku. California’s Mind of Christ Christian Center produced the 30-minute weekly television program.
Reno Omokri has continued to criticize the policies of the current Nigerian government and has been in conflict with Nigerian police since May 29, 2015. He was also a well-known conservative who fought for the moral foundation of society to be rebuilt.
Reno Omokri Controversy
Natasha H. Akpoti, a female gubernatorial candidate for Kogi State, stated on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, that Omokri had made sexual advances toward her on May 6, 2014, during a state banquet for Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Omokri responded by offering a reward of $50,000 to anyone who could provide a photograph or video of him at the Uhuru Kenyatta banquet. He also provided evidence in the form of a British Airways ticket and Nigerian and American immigration stamps on his passport, proving he was not in the country during the event. Natasha Akpoti, who made the accusation, then deleted all evidence of it from her social media accounts.

Buses for Democracy
During the 2019 general elections in Nigeria, the Independent National Electoral Commission postponed by one week the election originally set for Saturday, February 16, 2019. When the election was put off just five hours before it was supposed to start, many Nigerians who had traveled long distances to vote were angry.
As a result of their dissatisfaction, Omokri started an initiative he called #BusForDemocracy that gave all voters, no matter who they planned to vote for, free rides to the polling stations.
Free Leah Sharibu Movement
Omokri is the originator of the Free Leah Sharibu movement, a media campaign campaigning for the release of Leah Sharibu, a Christian girl kidnapped on February 19, 2018 by the violent Islamic cult Boko Haram.
Boko Haram promised to release Sharibu in exchange for her conversion to Islam, but she rejected it.
Boris Johnson MP, the former British Foreign Secretary, unveiled the #FreeLeahSharibu apparel collection on April 3, 2019, in his office at the British Parliament. Through his clothing company and book, Omokri donated more than £4,000 to Miss Sharibu’s parents.
Omokri wore the custom-made #FreeLeahSharibu tracksuit on April 11, 2019, on top of Mount Everest in Nepal.
On Saturday, November 2, 2019, at the Hollywood Weekly Magazine Film Festival, held at Warner Brothers Studio in Burbank, California, for his work on the # FreeLeahSharibu campaign.

Reno Omokri endorsed a successful effort to unfollow Nigeria’s president Muhammadu Buhari on Twitter. His #The UnfollowBuhari campaign reduced the Nigerian president’s Twitter following by 100,000 in just three hours.

On April 2, 2021, Omokri organized a series of demonstrations in London to compel General Buhari to return to Nigeria and cease relying on the United Kingdom for healthcare. Mr. Buhari flew into London the day before.

Omokri staged a protest against Nigerian President Buhari on September 24, 2021, in New York, while Buhari was attending the seventy-sixth session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Since the protest was peaceful, the Nigerian Consulate did not ask the New York Police Department to make any arrests or do anything else.
However, following the rally, Mr Omokri was followed to his hotel and beaten. Mr. Sean Reilly, his security, saved him by wrestling with the attacker, chasing him away, and calling the police. The entire event was captured on tape and reported by the media.
The following day (Saturday, September 25, 2021), a pro-Buhari group published a statement that was carried by the pro-government Daily Times, warning Mr Omokri to expect additional “deadly” attacks.
Awards
Omokri got the Business Influencer of the Year award from Business Insider, an American financial and business news website, in April 2022 after receiving 74.67% of more than 200,000 votes. Former Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan and former vice president Atiku Abubakar congratulated him.
