The Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) on Friday accepted exhibits presented by the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, in six additional states.
These exhibits were submitted to support his claim of electoral malpractices and rigging that allegedly led to his loss in the February 25 presidential election. On Thursday, Obi and the Labour Party had already tendered exhibits from six states. The new exhibits presented on Friday were from Adamawa, Bayelsa, Oyo, Edo, Lagos, and Akwa Ibom. The exhibits, which included forms EC8A certified by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as true copies of the original, were admitted into evidence.
The respondents, including the winner of the election Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and INEC, indicated that they may object to the documents during the final stage of the proceedings. The next hearing in the petition has been scheduled for Monday, June 5, by the Presiding Justice of the Court, Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani.
