Arsonists are currently attacking the Aguata Local Government Area headquarters in Anambra State, who are thought to be “unknown gunmen” in the region.
Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the freshly sworn-in Governor of the State, is Aguata’s son.
The perpetrators, who are thought to be the same people that assaulted the council’s market, Eke Ekwulobia, set fire to the council’s headquarters on Thursday afternoon.
“Following the report of the fire incident at the local government offices, the command has dispatched troops to the area, and the situation has been brought under control,” DSP Ikenga Tochukwu said when reached.
Ikenga, the spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, also stated that firefighters have been contacted and are currently battling the blaze.
