Prince Ademola Ayoade, the South West Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has urged Boniface Aniebonam, the former National Chairman of the party, to cease identifying himself as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the party.
Ayoade made this statement on Saturday, emphasizing that the party has not yet constituted its Board of Trustees.
In a press release issued in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, Ayoade stated that anyone claiming to be the Chairman of NNPP’s BOT should immediately cease doing so.
He stated, “As of today, the party has not officially formed its Board of Trustees. Therefore, no individual can officially assume the position of Chairman/Chairperson of our esteemed party’s Board of Trustees.”
Ayoade further highlighted that while the party’s leadership has specified the positions of Chairman and Secretary for the board, the formal constitution of the board and subsequent appointment of a chairman by its members is necessary for it to be officially recognized.
He emphasized the importance of the party’s leadership addressing this matter and instilling discipline within the party. Ayoade clarified that the NNPP is not a religious or missionary organization, and therefore, does not have a spiritual leader. If Aniebonam desires such a title, Ayoade suggested that he establish a church or religious institution.
