Armed security personnel have been deployed to the Ondo State House of Assembly Complex in Akure, the state capital, on Friday.
This action follows the alleged resignation of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Bamidele Oloyeloogun, just days before the end of the tenure of the 9th Assembly. The presence of armed security officers was reported at the two gates of the assembly complex. Hon. Olugbenga Omole, the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, confirmed the presence of the security personnel but dismissed the claim of the Speaker’s resignation.
He stated that the signature on the circulating resignation letter was forged. Omole also expressed concerns about plots to disrupt the final session of the 9th Assembly.
