Dave Umahi, the former governor of Ebonyi State, has provided an explanation as to why President Bola Tinubu will maintain close ties with him and former governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State. Umahi stated that Tinubu cannot distance himself from them because they played instrumental roles in his ascension to the presidency.
Umahi emphasized his loyalty and stated that despite El-Rufai’s recent controversial remarks regarding Christianity, he will still hold a significant position in Tinubu’s government. The senator-elect asserted that President Tinubu will not abandon those who contributed significantly to his electoral victory.
“Rest assured that President Tinubu will not exclude individuals like El-Rufai and the rest of us who worked tirelessly for his success. His track record demonstrates his commitment to not betraying anyone. Therefore, I am confident that my dear friend El-Rufai will have a prominent role.”
Umahi clarified that he is not speaking on behalf of President Tinubu, but rather sharing his perspective based on his personal knowledge of the President’s character. This statement was made during an interview with Arise Television in Abuja.
