In Aba, a commercial hub in Abia State, gunmen suspected of being members of the secessionist group Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, have reportedly ambushed an Army patrol van.
According to reports, the event, which occurred early Friday morning while the soldiers were on patrol, sparked animosity in the region.
The terrorists ambushed the soldiers at the popular Tonimas crossroads, Osisioma LGA axis, on the Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway, according to The Nation.
As of press time, details of the incident were vague, however it was learned that the attackers set fire to the soldiers’ patrol van.
The number of casualties, however, could not be determined because the army could not be reached for comment.
