See You Again is one of the most memorable song by the famous American rapper, Wiz Khalifa featuring fellow American singer, Charlie Puth.
It was commissioned for the Furious 7 soundtrack in 2015 as a homage to actor Paul Walker, who passed away on November 30, 2013, in a single-vehicle collision.
The song debuted as the soundtrack’s lead single in the US on March 10, 2015. Later, it appeared as a bonus track on Puth’s debut album, Nine Track Mind, which was released internationally.
Khalifa and Puth each have their biggest single to date with “See You Again.” Following Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” it spent 12 non-consecutive weeks at the top of the US Billboard Hot 100, tying Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” for the second-longest-running rap number-one single in the nation. It also spent two weeks at the top of the UK Singles Chart.
Several other nations, including Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, and Switzerland also saw it achieve the top spot on the charts.
Prior to One Direction’s “Drag Me Down,” the song held the record for Spotify’s most-streamed tune in a single day in the country. It broke the record for the most streaming in a single week globally and in the UK as well.
Between July 10 and August 4, 2017, the music video on YouTube received the most views. At the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, “See You Again” was nominated for Song of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and Best Song Written for Visual Media.
Additionally, it made the BBC Music Awards Song of the Year shortlist and received a nomination for Best Original Song at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards.
According to IFPI, “See You Again” had combined sales and track-equivalent streams of 20.9 million units, making it the best-selling single globally in 2015.
