Nigerian film producer Kunle Afolayan achieved a remarkable feat as his movie, “Anikulapo,” emerged victorious in the Best Indigenous Language (Yoruba) category at the prestigious 2023 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) held in Lagos. Afolayan’s film stood out among strong contenders, showcasing the richness and authenticity of the Yoruba language.
Adding to the Nigerian triumph, Tobi Bakre secured the Best Actor in a Drama Series award, while Osas Ighodaro gracefully claimed the Best Actress accolade in the same category. Their remarkable performances captivated audiences, further solidifying their positions as talented actors.
The event held at the esteemed Eko Convention Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos, witnessed other deserving winners, including Bimbo Ademoye, who was honored with the Best Actress in a Comedy award, and Animashaun Samuel, known as Broda Shaggi, who clinched the Best Actor in a Comedy Drama for Movie or TV Series. Broda Shaggi’s exceptional contribution to the movie “Inside Life” garnered him the well-deserved recognition.
