Ric Hassani, the sensational Nigerian singer, recently shared an interesting story about how he made the decision to quit his banking job on the day he was supposed to start. According to him, he had received a job offer from a commercial bank in the state, but everything changed when he received a call to perform at a wedding in Lagos.
Hassani explained that he was all set to begin his new job when he got a call from a show promoter informing him that he had been booked to perform at a luxurious wedding in Lagos. The bride had initially mistaken Reekado Banks for him due to their similar song titles, but she specifically requested the singer of the song ‘Gentleman’ instead.
During his appearance on the Echo Room audiovisual podcast hosted by Quincy Jonze, the Port Harcourt-born artist revealed, “I got a bank job. I can’t mention the bank’s name right now. On the day I was about to go and start, Shody The Turnup King called me for a show in Lagos. He was the first person to give me a show in Lagos for ‘Gentleman.’ At that time, I was in Port Harcourt.”
He continued, “I was getting ready to go for my first day at the bank, and then this guy called me to do a job, and I thought, ‘Oh wow!’ I simply didn’t answer the bank’s call anymore, and I have been in Lagos ever since.”
