Joeboy
Joeboy started singing as early as the age of 16. At 17, he published his first-ever afrobeat song titled “Gbeseyin”. He persisted with doing short music covers and sharing them on social media.
Three years ago, he did a cover of Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You”, which gained him great exposure. Afterward, he gained the attention of Nigeria’s renowned Mr. Eazi, who heads “emPawa Africa,” a plan aimed at recognizing talents in Africa and giving them a boost in their music careers.
Joeboy, along with 10,000 other young artists from 14 African countries, participated in Mr. Eazi’s “emPawa Africa.” Joeboy was one of the first 100 beneficiaries to obtain a share of $3,000, which he utilized to film his music video “Faaji”.
Joeboy was also one of the 10 artists picked for a mentorship boot-camp in South Africa, and one of two artists who were given an additional $50,000.
