Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia recently shared a harrowing account of domestic violence she endured during her marriage. In a conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, she revealed how her estranged husband subjected her to torture in an attempt to force a confession about infidelity.
According to Etinosa, her husband tied her up and forcibly submerged her head in water, threatening her until she confessed. The ordeal was so severe that she had to be hospitalized and required oxygen supplementation to recover.
Recalling her naivety at the time, she mentioned that she was only 22 years old when she got married and had limited knowledge about abusive relationships. Her husband had asserted his dominance by telling her, “I’m not your friend, I’m your lord.”
Etinosa described the night of the incident, emphasizing the extreme measures her ex-husband resorted to in order to extract the truth. She drew a comparison to scenes in CIA movies where individuals are subjected to waterboarding to elicit confessions.
When asked if there was physical violence involved, Etinosa pointed out the severity of the injuries she sustained. She questioned what else could break bones and necessitate a hospital visit where she had to receive oxygen. She also mentioned her preference for taller and more physically imposing partners to feel protected, implying that her ex-husband’s blows were particularly impactful.
Eventually, Etinosa reached a breaking point and reported her ex-husband to the authorities, deciding she could no longer endure his abuses.
