Former Big Brother Naija contestant Angel Smith recently revealed that she faced extreme online harassment during her stint on the 2021 “Shine Ya Eye” season of the reality show. In an interview with media personality Hero Daniels, Angel shared her traumatic experiences.
During the 2021 season of “Shine Ya Eye,” Angel openly discussed her struggles with mental health in an effort to raise awareness and reduce the stigma associated with it. However, her transparency made her a target for relentless online abuse.
Trolls used her discussions about mental health against her, creating false narratives that she was “crazy” and should be in a mental hospital. Angel mentioned that she saw tweets in 2021, including one that said, “Very soon she would soon h**t herself.” Some individuals even went so far as to create obituary posters for her.
