Seun Kuti, a Grammy-nominated afrobeat musician, has opened up about his time in police detention.
The singer was remanded at the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba, Lagos, following an incident where he was seen assaulting a police officer in a viral video. After spending eight days in detention, Kuti was granted bail on Tuesday.
In a post on his Instagram story on Friday, Kuti shared his difficult experience in jail. He described being forced to lay down on a hard and cold floor among other prisoners. However, he also noted that this experience was still preferable to being in the company of corrupt politicians, whom he referred to as “the devil’s house.”
