Nigerian singer Wande Coal, whose real name is Oluwatobi Wande Ojosipe, recently asserted that he and his former producer and record label boss, Don Jazzy, were the architects of the “syllabus of music.” According to Wande Coal, many artists have drawn inspiration from their work and developed their own unique sounds.
During a recent interview with Cool FM in Lagos, the ‘Bumper 2 Bumper’ singer made these claims while acknowledging that there was nothing wrong with younger artists emulating their style. He emphasized the strong bond between him and Don Jazzy, stating that their collaboration resulted in the creation of a musical syllabus. This syllabus served as a foundation for aspiring musicians, allowing them to incorporate their own elements and create innovative music.
Wande Coal further explained that the current music landscape reflects the influence of their earlier work. He expressed his approval of this trend, as long as he and Don Jazzy continued to collaborate and produce music that resonated with the younger generation.
Wande Coal and Don Jazzy had previously worked together at Mo’hits Record and Mavin before parting ways in 2013.
