The African Men Entertainment Kings, popularly known as AFRIMEK, has taken swift action by suspending Nollywood Yoruba actor Shoneye Olamilekan, also known as Show, following allegations of physical assault on his junior colleague, Temidayo Morakinyo.
The incident unfolded after Morakinyo took to social media to expose the actor’s violent behavior on a movie set. In a series of Instagram stories, she recounted how Show barged onto the set in Ibadan, Oyo State, and physically attacked her, leaving her with a broken lip. She revealed that the assault was in retaliation for her reporting Show’s unruly conduct to their superiors the day before.
Morakinyo expressed her pain and demanded justice, with her family standing firmly by her side.
In response, AFRIMEK, through a letter signed by Femi Adebayo, promptly distanced itself from Show and condemned his actions as shameful. The organization expressed its commitment to maintaining a positive image and promptly suspended the actor, pending further investigations by their disciplinary committee.
The letter also extended a sincere apology to Morakinyo, acknowledging that no one should endure such mistreatment. AFRIMEK took responsibility for the medical expenses incurred by Morakinyo and assured her of their determination to ensure her full recovery.
This incident highlights the significance of addressing workplace harassment and the importance of swift and decisive action in holding individuals accountable for their actions. AFRIMEK’s proactive response demonstrates their commitment to fostering a safe and respectful environment within the entertainment industry.
