Nigerian music sensation Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, once again emerged victorious at the 2023 BET Awards held in Los Angeles, USA. He claimed the coveted “Best International Act” award, surpassing talented artists such as Aya Nakamura from France, Ella Mai and Stormzy from the UK, Central Cee, and his fellow Nigerian artist Ayra Starr.
With this win, Burna Boy further solidified his position as the most decorated individual in the history of the BET Awards’ “Best International Act” category, having now won it a remarkable four times. He had previously clinched the award for three consecutive years in 2019, 2020, and 2021.
Since its inception in 2018, the “Best International Act” category at the BET Awards has been consistently dominated by Nigerian artists. Davido was the inaugural winner, and last year, rising Nigerian music star Tems took home the honor.
In other categories, Nigerian singer Asake was unsuccessful in securing the “Best New International” award, which was instead won by Cameroonian star Libianca during the event.
