Nollywood veteran actor, Jim Iyke, shared a heartfelt account of his journey into the acting world during a recent episode of the Is This Seat Taken podcast hosted by actress Chinasa Anukam. He revealed that his decision to pursue a career in acting caused a rift with his father, leading to his eviction from home.
Jim had excelled academically and had completed his first degree at the age of 18. His father had set plans for him to continue his education and obtain an MBA. However, Jim’s passion for acting took precedence, and he expressed his desire to become an actor. Despite being an introvert, he felt drawn to the profession.
His late mother, on the other hand, wholeheartedly supported his dream of joining the film industry. She believed in his potential even before he fully embraced the idea himself. Her unwavering belief in him encouraged Jim to pursue his aspirations.
Despite his mother’s support, the conflict with his father escalated, and Jim eventually had to leave home. His mother’s influence, guidance, and belief in his abilities played a pivotal role in shaping him into the man he is today and how he pursued his goals.
The journey of becoming a renowned actor in Nollywood was not without challenges, but Jim’s mother’s encouragement and faith in him served as a driving force in realizing his dreams.
