Temilade Kosoko, the youngest daughter of veteran actor Jide Kosoko, has opened up about the challenges she’s faced due to her father’s legacy in the acting industry.
During a recent interview, she revealed that she’s not happy when people attribute her acting success solely to her father’s fame. Temilade shared that most of the connections she has within the movie and entertainment industry were made through her own efforts, not through her father’s help.
She stated, “Being Jide Kosoko’s daughter has had negative and positive side effects on me and my career. On the good side, I have been able to network better, although most of the people I know, I got to know them myself and not through my father.”
Temilade expressed that she prefers not to be associated solely with her father’s reputation. She added that her father rarely introduces her to others, and she doesn’t enjoy it when people assume her success is solely due to her father’s influence.
She also discussed the challenges she faces due to her famous last name. People often have preconceived notions about her that aren’t accurate, leading to misunderstandings and biases. Additionally, there is an elevated level of expectation placed on her as the daughter of two respected actors.
Despite these challenges, Temilade acknowledged that her family name does come with respect and recognition, even though she has put in significant effort to achieve her accomplishments.
Her candid interview sheds light on the complexities of being the child of a famous figure and how it can impact one’s career and perceptions.
