Ayo Animashaun, the CEO of Smooth Promotions and organizer of the Headies Awards, has denied the speculation that he claimed Wizkid’s latest album, ‘More Love, Less Ego,’ was submitted for nominations at the 16th Headies but got declined.
Following the announcement of the nominees for the 16th edition of the award show, where Wizkid was notably absent from the list, social media users expressed their surprise and questioned the omission, considering the release of his new project within the eligibility period.
A screenshot of an alleged Instagram story post by Ayo Animashaun started circulating on Twitter, suggesting that Wizkid’s album was submitted but declined by the Headies. The post read, “To everyone complaining, Wizkid’s MLLE album was actually submitted to Headies but got declined because we are not accepting just anything, maybe he should work hard for next year!”
However, Animashaun took to his verified Instagram page to address the viral post, stating that it was photoshopped and described it as malicious and fake. He shared a screenshot of the viral post on his Instagram story, emphasizing that it was not from him.
This clarification from Ayo Animashaun puts an end to the speculation surrounding Wizkid’s absence from the Headies nominations and confirms that the viral post attributing the statement to the Headies boss was false.
