Diane Russet, a former Big Brother Naija reality star, actress, and filmmaker, shared a challenging incident that nearly ended her career in filmmaking. She recounted how she lost the file of one of her movie projects, leading to the need for reshoots, and the experience left her on the verge of giving up.
During an appearance on Hip TV’s program, Trending, hosted by reality star Kimoprah, Diane expressed her initial belief that formal education in film school was necessary to pursue a career in filmmaking. However, her friends in the industry encouraged her by explaining that learning on the job was also a viable path. Diane acknowledged that she is still learning as she continues her filmmaking journey, while also considering the possibility of attending film school in the future.
Diane revealed that she faced a significant setback when she lost the file of a project, which forced her to reshoot the entire film. The incident took a toll on her and made her contemplate quitting. However, she credited her industry friends for their unwavering support and encouragement, which ultimately motivated her to persevere. Despite feeling disheartened, they urged her to complete the project and reassured her that there would be more opportunities to produce additional films.
Diane’s resilience paid off, as her series titled ‘Ricordi’ went on to win the Best Original Drama Series award at the 2023 African Magic Viewers Choice Awards, showcasing her talent and dedication in the industry.
