Superstar Afrobeat singer Davido Adeleke has expressed his admiration for the achievements of his junior colleague, Rema, in the United States.
During a recent interview on UAE’s #1 Music Station, The Kris Fade Show, Davido, widely known as O.B.O, shared his amazement at the success of Rema’s song “Calm Down” on U.S. charts. He expressed how surprised he was that Afrobeat music has gained such global recognition and that he is proud to see stars like Rema making a significant impact worldwide.
Davido mentioned, “Years ago, I never thought a Nigerian artiste would have a Top 5 record in America. Rema has had Top 5 records in America for the past eight months, non-shaken.”
It’s worth noting that Rema’s “Calm Down” and its remix featuring Selena Gomez recently achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the first Nigerian song to remain on the U.S. Billboard charts for a year.
