Renowned Nigerian musician, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has opened up about the ongoing mourning process for his late son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, who tragically passed away last year.
In October 2022, Ifeanyi drowned at Davido’s Banana Island residence, leaving a deep void in the singer’s heart. During a recent interview with Omega, Davido expressed his continued grief, confessing that he still sheds tears whenever he reflects on his son’s untimely death.
Despite the expectations that his latest album, ‘Timeless,’ would have a somber tone due to his personal loss, Davido deliberately chose to focus on creating upbeat and energetic tracks, also known as “bangers.”
Davido shared, “I miss him every day, and tears well up in my eyes each morning, even if they are not visible to others. When I look at myself in the mirror, I remind myself that it’s not just about me. I know how many people love me and depend on me. I know my son up there is watching over me. Apart from being strong for his mother, which is my primary responsibility, I feel compelled to stay strong for the world.”
Additionally, Davido expressed his belief that Ifeanyi and his late mother, Mrs. Veronica Adeleke, are dancing joyfully in heaven to the tunes of his songs.
