MC Lively, the popular skitmaker and content creator, recently revealed the reason behind his decision not to practice as a lawyer, despite being called to the Nigerian Bar in 2016.
During a conversation with renowned media personality Chude Jideonwo, MC Lively shared that he was offered a meager sum of N5,000 to work at a law firm. He expressed his love for the legal profession and his exceptional performance in it. However, he found a significant disconnect between the theoretical knowledge acquired in school and the practical realities of the profession.
MC Lively said, “I love law so much. I excelled at it so much. I really, really loved it. But there was such a struggle between what you do in school and things in real life. It’s so different.”
He further explained the frustration he experienced after investing a substantial amount of money to attend law school and then being offered a monthly salary of N5,000 as a corper (National Youth Service Corps member). He mentioned that even before receiving that particular offer, he had approached several chambers in search of work, but they all turned him down. He highlighted that the struggle to find a decent job intensifies after completing the NYSC program and seeking an actual job.
The discouraging experiences MC Lively encountered during his early attempts to establish a legal career contributed to his decision to pursue a different path, focusing on entertainment and content creation.
