Well-known director Ugezu J. Ugezu has counseled single and unmarried women approaching marriage age to get pregnant in order to have a family.
Speaking in Igbo, the seasoned media figure gave advice to ladies on his Instagram page.
Ugezu presented examples of how, thanks to modernization, customs that once prohibited unmarried individuals from inheriting from their families or from becoming reverend fathers have been abolished.
As single parenting has also come to be recognized as the norm in today’s culture, he recommended women who have not yet married to attempt getting pregnant and raising their own children.
He stated that a lot of things that were considered to be a taboo in the past have come to be accepted as a norm in the present times.
Ugezu gave examples as to how in the past people who were born out of wedlock were not allowed to share in the family inheritance or to become reverend fathers, but such things have been wiped off by modernity.
He advised women who are still yet to get married to try to get pregnant and have their own children because single motherhood is something that has also come to be accepted as a norm in the present society.
