Nigerian comedian and actor, Okey Bakassi, has responded strongly to a fan who brought ethnicity into his social media post. Bakassi had shared a video on his Instagram page showcasing the aerial view of some locations in Abuja, with a caption stating, “This is Abuja, and we know the people that built it… e get why.”
In response to the post, a fan with the handle bowest_official questioned Bakassi’s intentions with the post. The fan believed that the comedian’s message could potentially cause disputes between ethnic groups and criticized him for it. The fan further expressed disappointment and stated their intention to unfollow Bakassi.
Clearly displeased with the comment, Bakassi fired back at the fan, accusing them of lacking a sense of humor. He went on to say that if the fan didn’t unfollow him, they would be foolish, as he didn’t want people with such reasoning following him. He also called the fan a bigot for bringing ethnicity into the discussion.
It seems that Bakassi strongly disagreed with the fan’s interpretation of his post and was quick to defend himself against the accusation of promoting ethnic disputes.
