Reno Omokri, a former aide to President Goodluck Jonathan, has shared his perspective on the #JusticeforMohbad movement, expressing concerns that some Nigerians may not be seeking genuine justice but rather a form of mob action.
Omokri believes that the focus of the movement appears to be on quickly punishing individuals who have already been labeled as “guilty” by the media and the public, without allowing for due investigation and legal processes by the authorities.
He expressed sympathy for the Nigeria Police Force, suggesting that no matter their findings, they may not satisfy the demands of those advocating for justice in Mohbad’s case. Omokri believes that these individuals have already identified certain persons they believe should be held accountable, and if the police’s findings don’t align with their expectations, they may accuse the police of bias or bribery.
It’s important to note that the #JusticeforMohbad movement likely reflects public concern about the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death and a desire for transparency in the investigation. However, Omokri’s comments highlight the importance of allowing law enforcement agencies to conduct thorough and unbiased investigations before drawing conclusions or seeking retribution.
