Netizens’ opinions were divided when Tems and Wizkid, two Afrobeats icons, were left off of the Grammy Award list.
The list of African singers who have received Grammy Awards in the past was made public by the Grammys earlier today.
The 66th Grammy Awards will be held on February 4 and the organizers have selected African artists who have received golden records during the 1960s.
According to the list, the first African to win a Grammy award was the late South African singer Miriam Makeba.
Pop sensation Sade did the same, making history as the first Nigerian to win the coveted award worldwide. Burna Boy, on the other hand, became the last and most recent Nigerian to win the notable trophy.
