Tembu Ebere, a Nigerian man who attempted to set the Guinness World Record by crying for 100 hours continuously, has faced serious health consequences. He confirmed in an interview with the BBC that he experienced severe headaches, puffy eyes, and a swollen face due to the constant crying. Tragically, he even went temporarily blind for 45 minutes during the attempt.
Ebere’s initial goal was to cry nonstop for one week, but the physical toll on his body forced him to reevaluate his strategy and reduce the intensity of his crying. He had previously declared his intention to undertake the cry-a-thon, which went viral after he shared it on social media with a flyer.
This incident follows another recent incident in Nigeria, where Joyce Ijeoma collapsed during a 72-hour longest body massage attempt in Lagos.
Both cases serve as a reminder of the potential risks involved in extreme attempts to break Guinness World Records and highlight the importance of considering health and safety above all else.
