Nigerian singer Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has broken Wizkid’s record for the longest-running African song at the top of the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart. His collaboration with Selena Gomez, ‘Calm Down,’ has now spent an impressive 18 weeks at No. 1, surpassing Wizkid and Tems’ ‘Essence,’ which held the top spot for 17 weeks in 2020.
While ‘Calm Down‘ slipped one position to No. 5 on the main Billboard Hot 100 chart this week, it previously reached No. 4, making it the highest-charting and longest-running Nigerian song in the history of the chart.
Furthermore, ‘Calm Down’ made history by debuting at No. 5 on the official Billboard Song of the Summer chart, becoming the first African song ever to appear on the chart.
