Yoruba actress, Jaiye Kuti, has expressed her disapproval of veteran actors who have resorted to seeking financial assistance on social media platforms. In response to the recent trend of older actors appealing for help, Kuti criticized their lack of preparation for the future.
In a video shared on Instagram, she stated that such actions were an embarrassment to the Yoruba movie industry. Kuti explained that the financial struggles faced by these veteran actors were a result of their own careless financial decisions in their younger days.
She emphasized the need for actors to plan and save for the future, as the industry does not provide a pension. Kuti further asserted that actors should not impose the responsibility of financially supporting their sick colleagues on others, as it should be a personal obligation.
Kuti’s message aimed to discourage the negative perception of Yoruba actors caused by the public pleas for financial assistance, and she emphasized the importance of personal financial responsibility within the industry.
