Nigerian afrobeats sensation, David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has revealed a past incident in which his billionaire father, Chief Adedeji Adeleke, arrested him, show promoters, and fans who attended one of his performances. This drastic measure was taken by his father as a consequence of Davido pursuing a music career against his father’s wishes, despite being expected to focus on education and business.
During his appearance on The lateish Show with Mo Gilligan on Channel4, Davido shared this story on Friday night, recounting the early days of his career. He expressed that his decision to pursue music created tension within his family, leading to the incident.
He said, “I come from a family where education and business are highly valued. Over time, my choice to pursue music became a point of contention. Whenever my dad heard that I was performing at a show, he would send the police. He would arrest the fans, promoters, and even had surveillance cameras to track my movements.”
During his appearance on the show, Davido performed his hit song ‘Unavailable,’ showcasing his musical talent to the audience.
