Controversial singer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has stated that the eight-year tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari appears better than the initial sixty days in office of the current president, Bola Tinubu. His statement came as a response to the recent announcement of N500 billion for palliatives by the Tinubu administration.
Tinubu had disclosed that his administration plans to provide N8,000 each month to twelve million vulnerable households as a cushion against the negative impact of the removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government.
Charly Boy criticized the federal government for allocating a meager N8,000 per month to twelve million suffering individuals while setting aside N70 billion for less than 500 National Assembly members.
Taking to Twitter, he expressed his bewilderment, questioning the type of leadership that would allocate such a small amount to the suffering masses while providing a substantial sum to a select few lawmakers. He further compared the eight-year tenure of Buhari to Tinubu’s initial sixty days, suggesting that Buhari’s administration seems more favorable.
Charly Boy concluded by pondering whether there is still hope for ordinary Nigerians.
