Pretty Much
PrettyMuch is a Los Angeles, California-based American-Canadian pop and R&B boy band. Simon Cowell formed the band in 2016, and its members are Brandon Arreaga, Edwin Honoret, Austin Porter, Nick Mara, and Zion Kuehnu.
Early career and development
Prior to being amalgamated into PrettyMuch by Syco Music founder Simon Cowell and former label president Sonny Takhar, the members of PrettyMuch had separate careers.
Since 2016, PrettyMuch has been stationed in Los Angeles, where they have shared a residence since March 18, 2016, where they have practiced their dancing and recorded their debut EP.
In 2017, PrettyMuch rose to prominence on social media with their cover songs and dancing videos, including a rendition of Charlie Puth’s “Attention” and Michael Jackson and Bruno Mars-inspired choreographed tributes.
“Would You Mind,” penned by Savan Kotecha and Jacob Kasher, was published by PrettyMuch in July of 2017.
One month later, the band played the song at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards and delivered an a cappella rendition on the red carpet at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards.
In September, a music video for the song was released. It was directed by Emil Nava and features members dancing and jumping over one another in deserted alleyways, as well as footage from the group’s road trip.
The video was influenced by boy band videos from the late 1990s and early 2000s, such as “We’ve Got It Going On” by Backstreet Boys and “I Want You Back” by NSYNC.
The record reached its highest position in the top 40 on Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40 charts.
In October 2017, PrettyMuch played “Would You Mind” on MTV’s Total Request Live and issued their second song, “Teacher.”
This track and its music video have been accused of being extremely similar to “Where They At” by Dead Obies. On October 27, 2017, their single “Open Arms” was released.
In November 2017, they confirmed via Twitter that they would perform their single “No More” during the finale of Series 14 of The X Factor in the United Kingdom.
The PrettyMuch Everywhere Tour encompassed the entirety of the United States.
On January 15, the quartet appeared on Good Morning America. On January 17, PrettyMuch played “Open Arms” and “No More” on MTV’s Total Request Live.
