On October 13, 1968, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Tisha Campbell was born. Still, she grew up in Newark, New Jersey, where she attended Newark Arts High School and the Washington Academy of Music in East Orange, New Jersey.
Her mother, Mona (née Raye) Shockley (now Mona Washington Campbell), was a nurse, music agent, gospel singer, and vocal coach who reared her daughter.
