Joseph Van Vicker (born August 1, 1977), also known as Van Vicker, is a gifted Ghanaian actor, film director, and humanitarian.


He is also the chief executive officer of Sky + Orange Production, a film production company. He was nominated for Best Emerging Actor and Best Actor in a Leading Role at the 2008 African Movie Academy Awards.


Van Vicker has also appeared alongside Rita Dominic, Regina Daniels, Yul Edochie, Chika Ike, Nonso Diobi, Mike Ezuruonye, and Stephanie Okeke in Nollywood films.


He has appeared in over 70 films and is considered one of the most talented performers of his current generation.

Van Vicker was born in Accra, Ghana, on August 1, 1977, to a Dutch father and a Ghanaian/Liberian mother. 


His sister’s name is Phylicia Anderson. According to rumour, his stepbrother’s name is unknown.


His father passed away when he was six years old. He has frequently stated in interviews that he considers himself a global citizen due to his mother’s international upbringing.


Due to his father’s untimely passing, Van Vicker has mentioned that he has a close relationship with his mother and considers her to be his hero.


Majid Michel and Van Vicker attended Mfantsipim School together. Then, in 2021, he graduated from the College of Communications at the African University.

Van Vicker began his career in entertainment as a radio host for Groove 106.3 FM from 1999 to 2000 and Vibe 91.9 FM from 2001 to 2004, as well as a television personality for TV3 Ghana from 1997 to 1999 and Metro TV from 2000 to 2004.


Sun City, a Ghanaian television series about university life, featured his appearance. Then he portrayed LeRoy King Jr., an American-born Fine Arts student who moves to Sun City to complete his studies. There were a total of 10 episodes in the series.


Soon, Van Vicker was cast as a supporting character in his debut film, titled Divine Love. This film also marked the debuts of future stars Jackie Appiah and Majid Michel, who played the female and male leads, respectively.

The actor, however, was married to Adjoa Vicker. The couple wed in 2003 and currently have three children: J’dyl Vicker, J-ian Vicker, and Vj Van Vicker. 


However, after many years of adultery and irreconcilable differences, the couple determined that divorce and co-parenting as friends was the best course of action.


In an interview, Nadia Buari claimed that Malik Buari, Aysha Buari, Shaida Buari, and Jameel Buari are the offspring of Van Vicker. This suggests that Nadia Buari is his girlfriend and partner.
